Volunteer Applicants

Thank you for your interest in becoming a YouthFriends volunteer to serve students in NKC Schools. YouthFriend applicants must complete the following steps prior to being placed with district students.

Step 1 - YouthFriends Orientation: view the Orientation Introduction prior to Steps 2 and 3

Step 2 - Placement Form and Policy Forms: print and complete

-North Kansas City School Standards of Conduct for YouthFriends

Step 3 - Screening: The screening process includes checks for child abuse/neglect and criminal history. Complete the required screening registration.

Family Care Safety Registry - Refer to the Family Care Safety Registry Instructions for registration and payment options.

To register online, go to: https://health.mo.gov/safety/fcsr/. If you are already registered in the FCSR system, please call our office to provide your SSN so our office can request your clearance report.

Please complete the above steps within 30 days. When our office receives your screening results, signed policy forms and placement form, we will notify you by email of your clearance and Active YouthFriend status. Your schools Partner in Education Building Facilitator will contact you for your placement and match you with students.

Staff Applicants

To complete the application process, please print, sign and return the NKC Schools Board Policy and YouthFriends Standards of Conduct forms. You may return the forms by email attachment to [email protected] or return in the district pony mail to YouthFriends at Central Office-Doolin. If you do not have access to a printer, please contact us and we will send you the policy forms in the district pony mail. When our office receives the policy forms, we will give you Active status and notify your Partners in Education Building Facilitator that you are ready to begin as a YouthFriend.

Former Staff Applicants

Thank you for your continued interest in YouthFriends. In accordance with district policy, former staff members who wish to return as a YouthFriend are required to complete the YouthFriend applicant process which includes screenings of child abuse/neglect and criminal history. Please complete the following steps:
